Swarthmore’s 180 DC was founded in 2011 and has since then been a vibrant pre-professional club on campus. As the only consulting club at Swarthmore, we aim to harness the power of consulting for social good by providing pro-bono services to non-profits or social enterprises. Swarthmore is a liberal arts school with highly academic students, so not everyone is prepared pre-professionally through their classes. Therefore, 180 DC also aims to help students interested in consulting streamline their careers through professional-level consulting, tangible skill development, and networking. Throughout the years, collaborating with both global corporations and local community-based organizations, we have provided well-researched strategic advice to our clients while fostering invaluable experiences for our consultants.
Gain hands-on experience recruiting clients (as part of the E-Board), communicating with clients (as a project lead), or researching and analyzing client data (as a project consultant).
Learn how to break down a problem, delegate work amongst a team, conduct in-depth research and analysis, and present findings to professionals or even executive members.
Develop strong relationships with other current and alumni 180 DC Swarthmore members through the Big Little sibs program, community events, etc.
Aside from the technical consulting skills gained, being a part of 180 DC at Swarthmore entails attending webinars and events with job recruiters, meeting successful alums working at top-tier consulting firms, and receiving advice on how to prepare for and land a consulting job!
