Start A BranchAbsolutely! We are looking for student leaders with ambition and drive to start a 180 DC branch, irrespective of prior involvement with 180 DC.
We usually recommend that you plan for at least 6 months from initial application to onboarding to found your branch. Hence, we also recommend that you apply to start a 180DC branch, when you have at least 9 months remaining in your course.
In the interview, we ask more detailed questions relating to your application, namely understanding your alignment with 180DC, discussing your organisational structure and any preliminary challenges or questions regarding your ability to open a branch. All future founding members are permitted to attend, just make sure you put down their respective email addresses in the meeting invite!
Unfortunately not. We require that you must be a university student with at least 9 months remaining in your course to start a branch. However, if you are a recent graduate, you are more than welcome to recruit current students and become a mentor for their branch application.
We provide support to our branches throughout the application: onboarding, training and successive phases of establishing a branch. This includes not only feedback, but also any necessary tools, guidelines and documents you need to establish your branch.
Furthermore, we have Learning and Development materials available to all branches, as well as a regional Branch Support and Collaboration (BSC) team specialist assigned to touch base with each branch. It is possible to schedule monthly calls with the BSC team once you are an established branch, which acts similar to a mentor for your branch.
We process new branch applications on a rolling basis, so we recommend that you apply when you are ready!
