Global Case Competition

The 180 Degrees Global Case Competition is an annual, social impact theme based case competition that offers students around the world a unique opportunity to solve real-world problem statements for some of the largest and most impactful nonprofits globally. The competition features multiple rounds of problem-solving case challenges, insightful discussions with case partners, and the chance to compete against the brightest minds.

About the 2025 edition of the Global Case Competition


The 2025 edition of the Global Case Competition will tentatively run from August to December. Participants will go through multiple rounds of case-solving, engaging discussions with case partners, and final presentations before a panel of judges.

Introducing our case partner of this year

Barefoot College International (BCI) is a global NGO using skills and technology to train and advance marginalized women who become entrepreneurs, train others, and live sustainably. Regardless of education and literacy, women are trained at our regional training centers to become solar engineers. They then return solar electrify their villages and work independently to maintain and repair the solar power as needed, for which they make meaningful income.In addition to every solar trainee, even more women are trained through our ENRICH and micro-entrepreneurship programs that build confidence, knowledge, practical skills and foster income-generating opportunities needed to unlock their potential, improve their lives, and lead change in their communities.

In line with the UN goals, our solar-engineers are fostering change and improving lives in 98 countries around the world. Our regional training centers are scaling this impact throughout Africa and Central America. Collectively we positively impact 15 of the 17 global sustainable development goals.

Participation: Who? How? Why?

Who is eligible to apply?

Anybody who is currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program and is passionate for social impact & problem-solving!

• Age has to be under 25
• Team composition: 3-4 students per team
• Cross-university teams are allowed.

About the 2024 Inaugural Edition!

For the inaugural edition, we were honored to partner with One Acre Fund (OAF), a leading social enterprise dedicated to reducing hunger and poverty among smallholder farmers in East Africa. OAF provides farmers with asset-based financing, agricultural training, and access to essential resources to help them build sustainable livelihoods and combat food insecurity.180 Degrees provides socially conscious organisations around the world with affordable consultancy services in all areas of business: strategy, finance, sales and marketing, operations, logistics, and human resources. 

The competition provided participants with the opportunity to engage with OAF's impactful work, gain insights into its initiatives, and pitch innovative solutions to real-life challenges the organization is currently facing.
