Global Business Development Specialist

The Global Business Development Specialist is an integral position within 180 Degrees Consulting as they are responsible for securing projects and contributions for the network of our 180 Degrees branches. Working with clients across the world, the position requires strong communication and negotiation skills, the ability to work with different cultures and to have a hands-on approach.

Time Required

  • This role is voluntary, with a significant degree of flexibility in how and when you allocate time during the week.
  • You must be able to commit at least 7-10 hours per week, including fortnightly team meetings and a monthly GLT-wide meeting.
  • You must be able to commit for a duration of at least 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and increase financial sustainability for 180 Degrees as a whole, through global client acquisitions and transactions.
  • Develop and execute a lead generation strategy; positioning 180 Degrees to work with larger social sector clients and achieve financial contribution targets. 
  • Work and negotiate with potential clients to conduct consulting project scoping and secure consulting engagements with an agreed financial contribution.
  • Develop 180 Degrees’ business strategy to increase financial sustainability and form high-level strategic decisions.
  • Identify changes to the client acquisition process to improve efficiency and transparency across the team and the whole GLT.
  • Liaise with the Global Operations Team and 180 Degrees Branch Executives to match consulting projects to branches. Therefore, delivering the highest quality consulting for our clients and meeting their needs and expectations.

Desired Attributes

  • Experience in identifying root issues and developing appropriate project scopes to address organizational challenges of potential clients.
  • Previous consulting experience and/or knowledge of consulting preferred but not required.

Global Data & Insights Specialist

The Global Data & Insights Specialists collate data insights and collaborate with other GLT teams to implement the resulting actions. The Global Data & Insights Specialists build and maintain the GLT data infrastructure to capture and analyze data on branch performance and other 180 Degrees Consulting key metrics.

Time Required

  • This role is voluntary, with a significant degree of flexibility in how and when you allocate time during the week.
  • You must be able to commit at least 5-7 hours per week, including fortnightly team meetings and a monthly GLT-wide meeting.
  • You must be able to commit for a duration of at least 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generating insights from data and translating them into workable action.
  • Investigating data sources to inform decision making and additionally improve data outcomes.
  • Building and maintaining data infrastructure, data cleansing, and performing data analytics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve how and what data is collected within the GLT, branches, and at 180 Degrees as a whole. 
  • Collaborate across GLT teams to deliver cross-functional initiatives.

Global Finance Specialist

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Global Finance Specialist is responsible for (a) managing the financial systems used to collect financial contributions from clients, (b) ensuring all financial reporting and compliance obligations are met and (c) (a) developing relationships with sponsors, foundations and governments that involve some form of financial support. This role will suit someone with experience and interest in accounting, finance, business development, and/or fundraising.

  • This role is voluntary, with a significant degree of flexibility regarding when work is undertaken
  • You must be able to commit to 5-10 hours per week, including a regular fortnightly team meeting
  • You must be able to commit for a duration of at least 12 months

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a financial strategy
  • Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with a variety of regulatory bodies across different jurisdictions
  • Administer and improve the invoicing processes used by 180 Degrees branches seeking client financial contributions
  • Manage partnership relationships and grant applications, and seek out new strategic partnerships across the regions in which 180 Degrees operates

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience with accounting, fundraising, business development, partnership management, data analysis, financial reporting, forecasting or compliance

Global Graphic Design Specialist

The Global Graphic Design Specialist is responsible for crafting the visual brand of 180 Degrees Consulting, developing creative, professional, and inspiring visual designs for our online channels, social media, and marketing initiatives. Working closely with teams across the GLT as well as branches, the Global Graphic Design Specialist supports the graphic design needs in a flexible and collaborative way.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide creative and professional visual designs that convey 180 Degrees’ brand identity in line with brand guidelines.
  • Design and produce digital media for 180 Degrees’ social channels, campaigns, website, and ad hoc requests.
  • Develop high quality, customizable resources for branch and global use.
  • Ideate, prototype, and deliver concepts for intuitive user experience throughout the 180 Degrees Consulting website.
  • Maintain and improve brand guidelines, providing design guidance to teams across the GLT and branches to ensure 180 Degrees has a consistent and professional visual brand both internally and externally.

  • Highly developed visual design and creative communication skills

Global Growth Specialist

The Global Growth Specialist is responsible for developing and executing 180 Degrees’ global expansion strategy.

In 2020, we opened over 30 branches in more than 10 countries including geographic expansions into 4 new countries. These branches go on to complete hundreds of projects for charity and social sector organizations in every part of the world. As such, the work of Global Growth Specialists is long-lasting and has a significant impact.

Key Responsibilities

Global Growth Specialists are primarily involved in:

  • Executing our growth programs where they will review incoming applications, conduct interviews, provide feedback and support to guide 180DC branch applicants to successfully establish their branch.
  • Developing innovative solutions and tailored approaches to expand 180 Degrees in key regions around the world. Specialists should ideally be passionate about or have knowledge of 1-2 regions/countries and be willing to pursue creative strategies to source and cultivate new branch founders.
  • Coaching prospective branch founding teams through the process to design, plan, launch and manage a new branch.
  • Liaising with the Global Operations team to transition branches once they are established.
  • Contributing to team development initiatives, such as strategy documentation, process optimization and impact measurement.

Time Required

  • This role is voluntary, with a significant degree of flexibility in when work is undertaken during the week
  • You must be able to commit to 6-10 hours per week, including a team meeting every 2-3 weeks and a monthly GLT-wide meeting
  • You must be able to commit for a duration of at least 12 months

Desirable Attributes

  • Prior experience setting up a 180 Degrees branch or participating in 180 Degrees projects is highly desirable, although not essential, as training will be provided for this role
  • Passionate about social impact and eager to help 180 Degrees expand to universities around the world

Global IT & Digital Specialist

The Global Information Technology and Digital Specialist is responsible for developing, executing and supporting the technological activities and infrastructure of 180 Degrees Consulting. The role requires strong technical knowledge and the ability to provide creative, innovative and cost-effective solutions to complex technical problems. The IT team enacts ongoing IT maintenance and acts as a point of support to the GLT and our network of branches. The Global Information Technology and Digital Specialist will support ongoing delivery of a new suite of systems and applications to replace the existing IT infrastructure.

Time Required

  • This role is voluntary, with a significant degree of flexibility in how and when you allocate time during the week.
  • You must be able to commit at least 5-8 hours per week, including fortnightly team meetings and a bi-monthly GLT-wide meeting.
  • You must be able to commit for a duration of at least 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve existing IT infrastructure 
  • Assist in the creation of documentation and user-guides for IT infrastructure usage at a branch and GLT level
  • Plan, develop and roll out functionality improvements, with an emphasis on human centred design and improving the user experience.
  • Provide technical support to 180 Degrees branches
  • Liaise with GLT teams on desired functionality, and generate a rational development plan for these improvements based on 180 Degrees’ organizational strategy and priorities

Desired Attributes

  • Experience with database technologies such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
  • Knowledge of system/enterprise architecture principles and frameworks
  • Proficiency with PHP, or a willingness to learn it quickly, is essential.

Global Learning & Development Specialist

The Global L&D Specialists are responsible for improving the effectiveness of branch operations, and/or the quality of consulting advice we deliver to clients worldwide. 

Working closely with branches and the GLT, we strive to create resources that guide, upskill and inspire the 180 Degrees Consulting global network. We analyze and deeply understand the learning needs of 180 Degrees Consulting by identifying key issues and opportunities to improve the capability of our people. We launch solutions through various channels such as the knowledge resource library, in order to scale our work across 180 Degrees Consulting globally and ensure all of our work has an impact. 

This position presents an opportunity to engage in knowledge management that will impact hundreds of nonprofits and thousands of consultants each year.

Time Required

  • Be responsible for improving the effectiveness of branch operations and/or the quality of consulting that 180 Degrees provides to non-profits worldwide. 
  • Assess the learning needs of branch executives, consultants, and project leaders, and design learning curriculums that build their capability.
  • Develop high-quality capability-building resources for consultants, project leaders, and branch executives.
  • Develop materials (e.g. videos, slides, templates, tools) to support the upskilling of the 180 Degrees network on topics like consulting methodologies; specific project types; analytics tools and frameworks; and functional branch processes (e.g. finance, sponsorship, recruitment, governance).
  • Plan, deliver, and improve 180 Degrees’ learning management system.
  • Embed resources through consistent engagement with 180 Degrees’ network.
  • Analyze past consulting projects to determine patterns in the issues faced by nonprofits.
  • Analyze client feedback to identify opportunities to improve project outcomes globally.

Global Marketing & Communications Specialist

The Global Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for the public face of 180 Degrees Consulting. The Global Marketing & Communications Specialist contributes to 180 Degrees Consulting on a global scale by leading marketing and communication initiatives/campaigns aligned with the marketing strategy. This involves developing and deploying brand resources, marketing content and communications to convey 180 Degrees’ brand, activities and impact to our key audiences and stakeholders. In addition supporting cross-functional teams across the GLT to develop impactful marketing campaigns.

Time Required

  • This role is voluntary, with a significant degree of flexibility in how and when you allocate time during the week.
  • You must be able to commit at least 5-8 hours per week, including fortnightly team meetings and a monthly GLT-wide meeting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and deploying marketing content and communications that resonate with key audiences and stakeholders, aligned with the overall marketing & communications strategy and GLT objectives.
  • Crafting a cohesive 180 Degrees global brand image, through spotlighting and showcasing branch events, development, and social media content.
  • Championing branding standards across the 180 Degrees network, providing marketing and communications guidance and coaching to other teams across the GLT as well as the global branch network.
  • Fostering communication with branches on branding and marketing initiatives via social media and more.
  • Collaborating and contributing to the Global Marketing & Communications team to optimize the organization’s marketing capability.
  • Collecting and analyzing global marketing metrics to support the development of 180 Degrees’ global marketing operating model and inform the GLT marketing strategy.

  • The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about the nonprofit sector, and loves gathering and communicating stories about social change and social impact.
  • Prior marketing, editing, design, or social media management experience is essential.

The Global Operations Specialists support branches and GLT to achieve operational excellence. They provide strategic and operational support to branches on a regional basis (APAC, EMEA, AMER), or through designing and implementing global programs. They also provide cross-functional support to GLT teams that require collaboration with branches.

The Global Partnerships Specialist will drive 180 Degrees Consulting’s future growth by identifying future private, public and social sector organizations that can support the organization financially and/or strategically. The position requires someone who is capable of identifying, pitching, and securing sponsorships with large organizations, has strong communication and negotiation skills, the ability to work with different cultures, and to have a hands-on approach.

  • Oversee the global partnerships strategy for 180 Degrees.
  • Establish, negotiate and develop strategic partnerships with private, public, and social sector organizations (e.g. corporates, foundations, etc.) that help 180 Degrees achieve its strategic goals and diversify its revenue streams.
  • Identify and articulate the USP of 180 Degrees that can be utilized to attract new partners and sponsors.
  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders to drive growth and position 180 Degrees as a leader in our field.
  • Draft partnership and sponsorship proposals that consider the diverse needs of potential partners/sponsors of 180 Degrees.
  • Work collaboratively to achieve ambitious strategic and financial goals.

Global People & Culture Specialist

The Global People and Culture Specialist will join the People and Culture team that is responsible for the recruitment, retention, development, and engagement of the Global Leadership Team of 180 Degrees Consulting. This individual will be responsible for developing and running the recruitment processes to ensure that the GLT always has the right people in the right roles as well as work on D&I, Leadership Development, Engagement, and Learning and Development initiatives. 

Time Required

  • You must be able to commit to 6-10 hours per week, including fortnightly team meeting and a monthly GLT-Town Hall meeting

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing recruitment strategies in alignment with the objectives of 180DC
  • Developing and executing Diversity and Inclusion, Leadership Development, Engagement, and Learning and Development initiatives
  • Identifying hiring needs and creating job descriptions in consultation with the Team Leads
  • Liaising with the Marketing team to develop and implement advertising strategies for sourcing talent
  • Screening all applications, conducting or allocating interviews of shortlisted applicants, and overseeing the interview process
  • Conducting reference and background checks of selected candidates
  • Onboarding new GLT members
  • Offboarding outgoing GLT members, including conducting their exit interviews

The Global Strategy & Transformation Specialists are responsible for supporting the GLT and the wider organization in developing organizational strategy. The Global Strategy & Transformation Specialists undertake periodical analysis of the organization’s performance, infrastructure, and capabilities and subsequently support the planning and creation of strategies to bridge existing gaps.

Time Required

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate organizational performance and health to identify improvement opportunities across all operational areas.
  • Support the development of approaches and strategies to bridge gaps.
  • Periodically review organization strengths and weaknesses to make recommendations based on internal and external factors to minimize risks and formulate plans to achieve long term organizational goals.
  • Ensure alignment of individual team goals with broader organizational objectives.
  • Engage, educate and coach various internal and external stakeholders on strategy concepts and transformation/change management principles, tools, and their roles in effective change, through designing and facilitating workshops. 
  • Assess and evaluate organizational infrastructure (eg. Technology & Processes) to identify any capability gaps while incorporating agile ways of working to accelerate transformation.
